Biennale Provision
General Provisions
• UG Architecture Student Biennial covers the field of architectural research, city planning, architecture, interior and design.
• UG Architecture Student Biennial is founded and organized by the School of Arts and Humanities and the Department of Architecture and Design of the University of Georgia.
• UG architecture student Biennial is held for the Georgian and foreign higher schools’ students of architecture (bachelor's and master's students).
• The topics related to main project, concepts and ideas are considered to participate in the UG architecture student Biennial.
• The aim of the UG Architecture Student Biennial is to present and identify the best projects and students who contribute their creativity in the field of architecture.
• Winning students in the nominations of the UG Architecture Student Biennial will be awarded with a Biennial Special Award.
• The main topic and nominations of the UG Architecture Student Biennial are determined by the organizers of the Biennial and the professional council.
The main theme of the UG Architecture Student Biennial is "Freedom for the City."
Works will be accepted starting from June 10, 2024.
The deadline for submissions is October 15.
The UG Architecture Student Biennial will take place from November 14th to 16th, 2024.
UG Architecture Student Biennial is held in two main phases:
1. Academic: conferences and thematic discussions.
2. Competition: student projects’ exhibition and awards ceremony.
Academic events
It includes a series of conferences and workshops for professionals, students and the general public, which will be held under the common topic "Freedom for the City" and will serve to present the importance of architecture in public life.
Competition and exhibition
Within the framework of the UG Architecture Student Biennial, a competition will be held with the participation of Georgian and foreign students of architectural faculties of various educational institutions; Only the project’s of the Bachelor’s and Master’s which did not take part in other architectural contests or exhibitions held in Georgia in previous years, will be presented.
At the Biennial, the architectural projects of the contestants will be considered according to the following nominations:
- Architecture;
- Urbanism;
- Restoration/historical heritage;
- Landscape architecture;
- Interior design;
- Furniture.
The Biennial Award: A small sculpture of the Biennial symbol
• The laureate certificate;
• The grant of the project supporters or sponsors.
• The organizer of the UG Architecture Student Biennial is the Professional Council of the Biennial, which is formed on the basis of the founders and organizers of the Biennial and performs work on the basis of predetermined conditions.
The jury of Biennial:
• International professional jury;
• Public opinion
Architectural works will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
o Form;
o Function;
o Innovation;
o Conceptuality;
o Adaptation to reality.
Conference
• This category refers to any large-scale or unpublished student academic research in the field of architecture or construction in the context of past, present or future times and circumstances.
• This category also includes the student's project, which is implemented on the basis of the relevant research. The project author students, must mention the professors/teachers who helped them in the development of the works.
• Architectural projects, in which the research method is not used, should be registered in such nominations as architecture, urban planning, restoration and cultural heritage, landscape architecture, etc.
• Works created in the last three years are considered for competition.
• On November 14-15, 2024, a conference will be held at the University of Georgia under the auspices of the biennial;
• Professionals have the opportunity to participate in the conference alongside students.

Timetable for UG Architecture Student Biennial
• The organizers of the UG Architecture Student Biennial announce details regarding participation conditions in the event, starting May 30, 2024
• The submission of works (uploading to the Biennial website) will commence on June 10, 2024, and conclude on October 15, 2024.
• Starting October 18, 2024, the competition jury will begin evaluating the works.
In the announcement regarding the UG Architecture Student Biennial, it is stipulated:
o The main theme of the Biennial;
o Biennial categories;
o Terms for work submission;
o Types of awards.
• The announcement regarding the UG Architecture Student Biennial is made publicly available in advance through the biennial information service.
• UG Architecture Student Biennial will be held on November 14-15-16, 2024.
• The Biennial award ceremony will be held on November 16, 2024.
Timeline of the UG Architecture Student Biennial
To win the UG Architecture Student Biennial Award, submissions on the Biennial website will undergo review by the Biennial's professional jury and will also be assessed by the public."
The selection process for showcased works occurs in multiple stages:
- Reviewing the projects;
- Selecting the top 3 projects in each category;
- Confirming the best works through community consensus;
- Awarding the winning nominees during a ceremonial event on November 16, 2024, at the University of Georgia in Tbilisi.
- During the awards ceremony, the projects chosen by public vote will be announced based on their respective categories.
The exhibition will feature the winning projects showcased during the award ceremony.
These winning projects will also be published on the Biennial's website, the University of Georgia's website, covered across social and TV media networks, and included in the Biennial catalog.
Final Provisions:
• The organizers of the UG Architecture Student Biennial reserve the right to modify the competition conditions, with prior notification to the participants.
• In the event of a change in the date of the UG Architecture Student Biennial, participants will be provided with additional information.
